Coach Michael Antonecchia is an official Gracie Barra kids instructor specialized in delivering structured technical foundations for young athletes and adult beginners training under Professor Demetrios Diavatopoulos. Driven by a deep personal love for high-level submission grappling, Michael is an active competitive BJJ athlete who regularly represents our academy on local tournament mats. Testing his skills under high competitive pressure allows him to bring fresh, battle-tested ground mechanics, lever logic, and modern positional strategy directly back to our Montreal training mats.
Michael plays a vital role within our foundational youth martial arts development modules, coaching kids across all experience levels with a patient, positive, and highly encouraging style. He excels at breaking down complex ground movements into engaging, easy-to-understand physical drills that maximize body coordination, positional rolling control, and mutual respect among peers. His balanced approach ensures that absolute beginners overcome early mat anxiety and build genuine confidence from day one.
Beyond his work with our youth classes, Coach Michael is deeply involved in leading our adult fundamental training blocks, helping entry-level practitioners build reliable defensive structures and physical mat conditioning.
